Assetto Corsa: getting started
1. Open your control panel
Log in at rapidhosting.uk, open your Assetto Corsa service and click Open control panel. You're signed straight in: no second account. The How to join box at the top of the Console shows your server address and exactly how to connect.
2. Set up your race: the Race Setup tab
Everything is point-and-click, no config files needed:
- Track and layout: every official track, plus any mod tracks you've added.
- Cars: tick the cars you want (search helps). Every official car, DLC included, is checked against modified data (anti-cheat).
- Sessions: practice, qualifying and a race by laps or time; time of day, weather, temperatures and starting grip.
- Rules: ABS, traction control, stability, auto-clutch, tyre blankets, damage, fuel and tyre wear, and how many wheels may leave the track.
Press Save & restart and your server comes back up with the new setup.
3. Grid and entry list
Automatic shares the grid evenly between the cars you ticked. Switch to Custom grid to set each slot yourself: car, skin, a driver reserved by Steam ID (paste their Steam profile link), name, team, ballast and restrictor, and the order of the grid.
4. Admins, bans and whitelist
Add drivers by Steam profile link:
- Admins get admin rights in-game without the password (
/kick,/ban,/next_sessionand more). Using the admin list turns on Steam verification, so nobody can fake an admin's Steam ID; with it on, drivers join through Content Manager with Custom Shaders Patch. - Banned drivers can never join (in-game
/banadds people here too). - Whitelist: when anyone is listed, only listed drivers can join.
There's also an admin password: press Show in the How to join box, then type /admin <password> in the game chat. Choose your own in the Startup tab.
5. AI traffic
Tick Fill empty slots with AI traffic in Race Setup. It works on every official track, and on mod tracks that include an AI line
(ai/fast_lane.ai). With a custom grid you can make each slot AI when empty, always AI or players only.
More AI cars use more CPU and memory, so the bigger plan suits busy traffic servers.
6. Mod cars and tracks
In Race Setup, Add mod cars & tracks takes a mod archive (.zip, .7z or .rar, up to 2 GB), finds the car and track
folders inside and installs them; they then appear in the lists marked MOD. Drivers need the same mod installed to join. Ticking Replace deletes the installed folder first,
including anything you added to it yourself. Bigger mods: upload with SFTP into content/cars or content/tracks.
7. Server extras
Also in Race Setup: a description shown in Content Manager, kicking AFK drivers or drivers with a high ping, real time of day, forced headlights and dynamic weather (WeatherFX, needs Custom Shaders Patch).
8. Live timing, track map, championships and results: the Race tab
- Live timing: everyone on track, their laps, last and best lap and the gap to the leader, updating every few seconds. Cuts (laps with cuts never count as a best lap) and incidents are counted too.
- Track map: the track's own map with every car moving round it live.
- Championship: every finished race counts automatically. Choose the points system (F1-style, top 8, everyone scores or your own) and a fastest-lap bonus. Leave out a test race with one click (it isn't deleted), or start a new championship: the standings go back to zero but no results are deleted.
- Recent sessions: the final classification of every practice, qualifying and race. The last 200 races and 50 other sessions are kept (as JSON in
.rh/results); older ones are removed automatically.
9. Join your server
Press Join with Content Manager in the How to join box, or Copy invite link and share it with your drivers: it opens Content Manager and joins straight away. You can also search your server name in Content Manager → Online.
10. Automatic restarts and backups
Under the Console, the Automation box turns on a daily restart and a daily backup at a time you choose (UK time). Daily backups keep your most recent backups and replace the oldest automatically; lock a backup in the Backups tab to keep it for good. You can take and restore backups yourself at any time from the Backups tab. Restoring a backup replaces the server's current files with the ones in the backup.
Advanced
Everything Race Setup does is saved in the cfg folder (server_cfg.ini, entry_list.ini, extra_cfg.yml) if you'd rather edit files or use a
Content Manager preset. Settings you add by hand are kept when you save in Race Setup, but comment lines are not. Your server name, passwords, ports and slot limit come from the Startup tab and your plan.
