BeamNG.drive (BeamMP): getting started

Your server runs the official BeamMP server, the multiplayer mod for BeamNG.drive, and is updated automatically. It needs a free AuthKey before it can start (step 2): it takes about a minute.

1. Open your control panel

Log in at rapidhosting.uk, open your BeamMP service and click Open control panel. You're signed straight in: no second account. The How to join box at the top of the Console shows your server address and exactly how to connect.

2. Get your free AuthKey

Go to keymaster.beammp.com and log in with Discord.
Open Keys and create a new key.
In your control panel open the BeamMP tab, paste it into AuthKey and press Save & restart.

If BeamMP rejects the key, a red warning appears in the How to join box: copy it again (no spaces) or create a new one.

3. Server settings

In the BeamMP tab: server name and description, map (every official map, or a mod map), cars per player, public or private, tags to help players find you, which BeamMP version to run and whether chat shows in the Console. Changing the version reinstalls the BeamMP server; your settings and mods are kept.

4. Mods

Upload BeamNG mods (.zip, up to 2 GB) in the BeamMP tab. Players download them automatically when they join. You can disable a mod without deleting it; Remove deletes the file (it asks first). Mod map: upload its zip, then pick Mod map and enter /levels/<map folder>/info.json. Server-side Lua plugins go in Resources/Server, each in its own folder.

5. Players

The BeamMP tab shows who's online, lets you kick a player (with an optional reason) and send a message to everyone in chat.

6. Join your server

Start BeamNG.drive through the BeamMP launcher, open Multiplayer and search for your server name, or use Direct Connect with the address from the How to join box.

7. Automatic restarts and backups

Under the Console, the Automation box turns on a daily restart and a daily backup at a time you choose (UK time). Daily backups keep your most recent backups and replace the oldest automatically; lock a backup in the Backups tab to keep it for good. You can take and restore backups yourself at any time from the Backups tab. Restoring a backup replaces the server's current files with the ones in the backup.
